If you’re buying a car in the UAE, you want to be sure that it’s not just in good condition, but that it’s safe and roadworthy too. At Al-Futtaim Automall, we never put any of our pre-owned cars on display without going through a rigorous 99-point checklist first.
Our highly experienced technicians know exactly what to look for, and are quick to spot even the slightest potential problem. By having this team of experts go through every vehicle with a fine-toothed comb, we can be certain that you’re driving away in a safe, reliable vehicle. So what do we look at?
Let’s start with the inside. The first thing on our list is the safety system, including your airbags and seatbelts. Even the condition of the steering wheel is inspected for signs that the airbag has been deployed at some point, indicating that the car may have been in a collision.
We check the audio system (after all, who wants a car with a faulty radio or dodgy navigation system? That’s super annoying!). The air conditioning is checked from top to bottom, and we ensure that all the inside amenities such as switches, wipers, instrument panels and even the light in the glove box work.
How are those carpets and mats looking? If they’re tatty or dirty, the valet team get called in to take care of business and clean things up. While they’re there, they’ll make sure the upholstery is in tip-top condition too. We’ll check the spare tyre and jack are in their place, and that child locks, remote entry systems, door locks and handles are all working correctly.
Once we’ve checked the inside, we start going over the outside, making sure every panel, door, and the tailgate are all correctly aligned. We’ll check the glass for cracks or chips, and repair or replace as necessary. You won’t be getting pulled over for a defective tail-light either, as our electricians do a full circuit check of the entire electrical system.
Next, we pop up the bonnet and take a long, hard look at the heart of the car. A full fluids check is carried out, including power steering, brakes, clutch and the air-con system. The engine is given a detailed inspection by trained engineers, from the cooling and electrical systems through to belts, hoses and wiring.
We then lift up the car and get underneath, looking for any damage to the chassis and frame, especially in those rust danger zones like the wheel arches. We make sure the exhaust system is in pristine condition and that the transmission, CV joints and drive axles have no signs of excessive wear or damage. The tyres and wheels get a full shakedown, including suspension, steering and brakes.
We make sure that nobody’s lost the keys, including the spare! Our team also check that all the paperwork’s in order and that the VINs match.
As we said, we examine every single aspect of each car that goes through our showroom or is advertised online. If it doesn’t pass this comprehensive inspection, we won’t sell it to you!
